Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin Emphasizes Dravidian Values and Public Service During Karur Visit with V. Senthil Balaji

Karur, Tamil Nadu — Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin called upon government officers to act as a strong bridge between the people and the administration, reaffirming the principles of the Dravidian model of governance. Speaking during a high-level multi-departmental review meeting at the Karur Collectorate, the Deputy CM highlighted the importance of efficient service delivery with just eight months remaining before the state elections.

Joining him at the event was Karur MLA V. Senthil Balaji, who welcomed the Deputy CM on behalf of the Karur people and participated in key inauguration ceremonies and welfare distributions.

₹162 Crore in Welfare Aid Distributed to 18,332 Beneficiaries

In a major public outreach effort, Deputy CM Udhayanidhi inaugurated 13 completed infrastructure and development projects worth ₹58.25 crore, including the ₹40 crore Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi Bus Stand at Thirumanilaiyur. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for three new development initiatives totaling ₹3.35 crore.

The event also saw the distribution of ₹162.22 crore worth of welfare assistance benefiting over 18,000 people. Key benefits included:

  • Free house site pattas for 13,000+ families
  • Marriage and disability assistance
  • Petrol scooters for the differently abled
  • MSME loans for entrepreneurs
  • Support for SHGs and women entrepreneurs
  • Educational and housing aid under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam scheme

Promoting Youth Empowerment Through Sports and Entrepreneurship

The Deputy CM encouraged students and young athletes to fully utilise the State’s Aadukalam mobile app, which provides real-time updates on sports schemes and facilities. He praised the distribution of sports kits to 157 panchayats in Karur under the Kalaignar Sports Scheme, while urging officials to conduct regular audits to ensure effective usage.

In a move supporting women’s empowerment, Udhayanidhi Stalin visited the Thalir Self-Help Group (SHG) in Thirunagar, which manufactures eco-friendly paper bags. Operated by 12 women since 2021 with support from government training and cooperative bank loans, the SHG impressed the Deputy CM with its sustainability and entrepreneurial impact.

V. Senthil Balaji’s Role in the Karur Welfare Drive

MLA V. Senthil Balaji played a key role in coordinating the Deputy CM’s visit and ensuring the successful execution of the welfare programs. His consistent engagement with local development projects continues to strengthen the DMK government’s public outreach in the Karur region.

The event was also attended by MPs S. Jothimani, K.E. Prakash, MLAs R. Manickam, R. Elango, K. Sivagama Sundari, Karur Collector M. Thangavel, Karur Mayor K. Kavitha, and other senior officials.
